Here's a really easy, super-fun game you can play with your group. All you'll need is a large blanket, tarp, or sheet.
Split your group into two teams. Have them stand on opposite sides of the room/meeting space. Get two volunteers (I use adults) to hold up the blanket in the middle of the room, so that, for the most part, the two teams can't see each other. Then have one person from each team come up and stand in front of the blanket, so that on each side there is a person standing, facing the other, but they can't see each other because of the blanket.
On the count of three, have the volunteers drop the blanket. The first one of the players to say the name of the person standing across from them wins! The other player is out, and sits down on the side. If it's a tough call or a tie, either call it a tie and let them both stay in, or have them quickly rock-paper-scissors it out! Reset the blanket, and have two new players from each team come up to the middle, and repeat until there are just one or two people left on one side.
It's a great quick-and-easy starter to your youth group time, and ALSO helps everyone learn each other's names. I'm constantly surprised how kids who attend the same group for months or even years still don't know each other's names! Yeesh!
Have fun!
